Jammu Srinagar Highway Traffic Plan for 19.04.2017

Jammu Srinagar Highway Traffic Plan for 19.04.2017

The condition of the NHW in general and narrow width of road at Seri, Gangroo, Panthyal, Hingni and Sherbibi in particular gives tough time to the field staff of the Traffic wing in regulation of traffic on the NHW. Due to the narrowness of the road at the above said locations plying of two-way traffic on the NHW is not feasible.

As such, subject to fair weather/ good condition of the road and clearance from Traffic Control Units, only one way movement of traffic shall be allowed on the NHW on 19.04.2017. Under the said plan, movement of traffic shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar side in a regulated manner. Movement of LMVs/passenger vehicles/Tankers shall be allowed from Nagrota (Jammu) from 0700 hours up to 1000 hours and from Udhampur up to 1100 hours only. However, the movement of HMVs (excluding Trailers/multi-axle vehicles) shall be allowed from Nagrota (Jammu) from 0730 hours up to 1030 hours and from Udhampur up to 1130 hours only. Strict implementation of prescribed cut off timings shall be ensured to avoid chaos/ congestion on the NHW.

No movement of any sort of traffic shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu side on 19.04.2017 under any circumstances aimed at ensuring hassle free movement of traffic on the NHW.

Commuters are requested/advised that vehicles are not parked in any landslide/vulnerable zones of NHW, especially from Ramsoo – Jawahar Tunnel – Levdora under any circumstances. All the vulnerable/slide-prone zones should be kept free from any kind of traffic to avoid any eventuality.

People are requested to undertake journey on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway after confirming status from the TCUs as the chances of occurring sudden land slides on the NHW cannot be ruled out. They should contact TCU Srinagar (01942450022, 2485396), TCU Ramban (9419993745) and TCU Jammu (01912459048, 9419147732) to get the status of the road before starting their journey. They shall also contact Traffic Police officers viz. IGP Traffic J&K (9419192362); SSP Traffic, Rural Kashmir (9419091281); SSP Traffic NHW (9596304020); Dy.SsP Traffic Udhampur/Reasi (9419013015); Ramban (9419185925); Banihal (9419233978) and Dy.SP Traffic, Kulgam/Qazigund (9796959260) in case of any assistance en-route.
