Jammu Srinagar National Highway, Mughal road ,Srinagar – Kargil  Traffic Plan for 21.06.2017

Presently it is slightly raining in Banihal – Ramban area of the NHW which is the most vulnerable and slide-prone road stretch. As such the commuters are advised to contact Traffic Contol Units Jammu, Ramban and Srinagar tomorrow on 21.06.2017 before starting journey on the NHW.



Therefore, subject to fair weather/ good condition of the road and clearance from Traffic Control Units, on 21.06.2017, movement of traffic (excluding Trailers/multi-axle vehicles) shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar side in a regulated manner. Movement of LMVs/passenger vehicles shall be allowed from Nagrota(Jammu) from 0600 hours upto 1000 hours and from Udhampur upto 1100 hours only. However, the movement of HMVs and Trailers/multi-axle vehicles shall be regulated at Udhampur itself. Movement of the HMVs (excluding trailers/multi-axle vehicles) shall be allowed from Udhampur from 0600 hours upto 1130 hours only. Strict implementation of cut off timings shall be ensured for smooth regulation of traffic on the NHW.

Similarly, on 21.06.2017, movement of LMVs/Light Passenger vehicles only (excluding medium/heavy passenger vehicles viz. Tempo Traveller/buses etc.) shall also be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu side in a very strict and regulated manner. Movement of these vehicles shall be allowed from Levdora (Qazigund) from 0800 hours and all these vehicles shall cross Jawahar Tunnel upto 1200 hours only. However, no movement of any Jammu bound LMV shall be allowed from Pantha Chowk after 0900 hours under any circumstances.


The commuters are advised to exhibit highest order of driving discipline and avoid overtaking and doubling on the NHW so that there is no jamming/ congestion on the NHW.

No movement of any sort of Medium/Heavy motor vehicle including convoys of Army, BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB etc. shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu side on 21.06.2017 under any circumstances to avoid traffic congestion on the NHW.

People are requested to undertake journey on the National Highway after confirming the status from TCUs as the chances of occurring of sudden land slides on the NHW cannot be ruled out. They shall contact TCU Srinagar (01942450022, 2485396), TCU Ramban (9419993745) and TCU Jammu (01912459048, 9419147732) to get the status of the road before starting their journey. They shall also contact Traffic Police officers viz. IGP Traffic J&K (9419192362); SSP Traffic, Rural Kashmir (9419091281); SSP Traffic NHW (9419248811); Dy.SsP Traffic Udhampur/Reasi (9419013015); Ramban (9419185925); Banihal (9419233978) and Dy.SP Traffic, Kulgam/Qazigund (9796959260) in case of any assistance en-route.

Mughal Road through for traffic. Movement of LMVs shall be allowed both ways and movement of these vehicles (LMVs) from either sides (viz. from Heerpora and Bufliaz sides) shall be allowed from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm only. However, movement of HMVs (empty)shall be allowed one-way only and movement of these vehicles (empty HMVs)shall be allowed from Heerpora towards Bufliaz side from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in a regulated manner. All the vehicles shall, however, cross Pir Ki Gali before 5:00 pm positively. Movement of traffic shall be allowed in close coordination with concerned District Police and only after assessing the weather and road condition.

Srinagar – Kargil road through for traffic. Movement of traffic from Kargil towars Sonamarg side shall be allowed from Drass after 0300 hours and cut off time for all the vehicles shall be 0800 hours at Minimarg. Similarly, movement of traffic from Srinagar towards Kargil side shall be allowed from Sonamarg at 1100 hours and cut off time for all the vehicles shall be 1500 hours at the said location.
