Jammu Srinagar National Highway Traffic Update 05.04.2017

Jammu Srinagar National Highway Traffic Update 05.04.2017

It is raining in most areas of the NHW between Qazigund to Ramban since today evening. Further, width of the NHW at Mehar, Panthyal and Ramsoo coupled with overall condition of the NHW from Zig-Jawahar Tunnel and Ramban-Jawahar Tunnel makes the regulation of traffic a challenging job for the Traffic Police.

However, subject to fair weather/ good condition of road and clearance from Traffic Control Units, only one way movement of traffic shall be allowed on NHW on 05.04.2017. Under the said plan, movement of traffic shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar side in a regulated manner.

No movement of traffic including that of convoys of Army, BSF, CRPF etc. shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu side on 05.04.2017 under any circumstances to ensure smooth flow of traffic on the NHW.

In view of bad weather condition, commuters are requested/advised that vehicles are not parked in any landslide/vulnerable zones of NHW especially from Ramsoo – Jawahar Tunnel – Levdora under any circumstances. All the vulnerable/slide prone zones should be kept free from any kind of traffic to avoid any eventuality.

People are requested to undertake journey on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway after confirming status from the TCUs . They should contact TCU Srinagar (01942450022, 2485396), TCU Ramban (9419993745) and TCU Jammu (01912459048, 9419147732) to get the status of the road before starting their journey. They shall also contact Traffic Police officers viz. IGP Traffic J&K (9419192362); SSP Traffic, Rural Kashmir (9419091281); SSP Traffic NHW (9596304020); Dy.SsP Traffic Udhampur/Reasi (9419013015); Ramban (9419185925); Banihal (9419233978) and Dy.SP Traffic, Kulgam/Qazigund (9796959260) in case of any assistance en-route.

It may be pertinent to mention here that the Met. department has also predicted erratic weather conditions for next two days and therefore occurring of landslides/ shooting stones in vulnerable road stretches of NHW cannot be ruled out. In order to ensure safety/security of the commuters, the above traffic plan can be reviewed tomorrow and any further decision vis-a-vis movement of traffic on NHW shall be taken after assessing weather and road condition afresh.

People in general and commuters in particular are strongly advised/ requested to cooperate and not to start their travel till clearance from Traffic Control Units.
