Truckers call off their strike after govt assures.
Fuel supply were hampered in several areas on Tuesday due to nationwide truck drivers’ demonstrations over the recently approved penal code’s increased punishment for hit-and-run incidents. The government made efforts to calm the striking transport workers, and the strike was called off following a late-night meeting between members of the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) and Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla.
“We spoke with leaders of the All India Motor Transport Congress. The administration wishes to claim that the new law has not yet been put into effect. After the meeting, Ajay Bhalla stated, “We would want to clarify that we would hold a discussion with representatives of the All India Motor Transport Congress prior to putting Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 106/2 into effect.
