DSE Prohibition of Driving of underage Students.

Issue Identified:

Underage students have been found driving vehicles (two-wheelers and four-wheelers) while commuting to schools or coaching centers.

This act endangers public safety and violates the Motor Vehicle Act.

Instructions for Implementation:

Monitoring: Schools and coaching centers must ensure that underage students do not drive any motor vehicle. Such students should be denied entry, and their parents should be informed.

Awareness Programs: Institutions are directed to organize sensitization programs for students and parents, highlighting the risks of underage driving and the importance of traffic rules, in collaboration with the traffic police.

Parent Education: Parents should be educated about the consequences of underage driving through Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs).

Parking Area Surveillance: Schools and coaching centers must monitor parking areas and report any instance of underage driving to the authorities.

Activation of Safety Clubs: School safety and road safety clubs should be activated to raise awareness.

Legal Consequences:

Non-compliance with the circular may lead to legal action under the Motor Vehicle Act or other relevant laws. Institutions risk withdrawal of recognition/registration if found violating these rules.

Dissemination:

The circular should be widely communicated among staff, students, and parents for immediate action.
