Jammu Srinagar NHW Traffic Update 02 May 2025

TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

1. From 30-04-2025, 1700 hrs. to 01-05-2025, 1700 hrs., there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to breakdown of 04 HMVs, movement of 13 nomadic flocks, single lane traffic at Dalwas, Peeda, Mehar, between Morgad and Kishtwar Patcher and due to four lane construction work.
2. Traffic was restored in regulated manner at Mehad, Cafeteria, Ramban on NH-44 due to single lane road. All LMVs & HMVs are advised to follow lane discipline; overtaking, over speeding and driving will cause inconvenience to the commuters from other side.
3. Passengers/LMVs/Operators are advised to undertake journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW only after confirming status of the road from concerned traffic control units due to daily inclement weather prediction and slippery conditions between Ramban and Banihal.
4. Mughal Road: Subject to fair weather and good road condition, LMVs (Passenger/Private Cars) shall be allowed from both sides at 0900 hrs. to 1600 hrs. These vehicles shall be allowed from Behramgalla (Buffliaz) and Herpora (Shopian) only after green signal from road maintenance agencies.
5. Kashmir-bound (HMV/LMV) operators carrying fresh perishable/hooked vegetable products are advised to load their vehicles in the evening/night so that vehicles cross the NH-44 before 0800 hrs.
6. Drivers/Operators are advised to desist from overloading and avoid overtaking during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles before undertaking journey on NHW.
7. HMVs with more than 06 tyres shall be allowed to ply through Dhar road.
8. Strict action shall be taken against the vehicles violating advisory.
9. Passengers/LMVs/Operators carrying fresh vegetables between Ramban and Banihal especially during night shall be allowed one side

Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 02-05-2025:
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. However, HMVs (load carrier) shall be allowed from Jakhani (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after assessing road condition and traffic situation. NHW-44 shall be allowed from Jakhani (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after 1600 hrs. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban for the release of HMVs. Commuters are requested to check NH-44 status at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and face book page.

SFs Convoy Movement:
Security Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of possible traffic congestion because of narrow carriage way between Nashree and Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. They may ply from Jammu towards Srinagar after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.

Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244:
Decision regarding the vehicular movement on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road shall be taken after getting green signal from the road maintenance agency NHIDCL.

SSG ROAD:
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from the BRO, LMVs shall be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil. These vehicles shall be allowed from Sonamarg in between 0900hrs to 1130hrs. Thereafter only LMVs shall be allowed from Kargil towards Srinagar. These vehicles shall be allowed from Minamarg between 1230 hrs to 1530 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing.

Mughal Road:
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from Road maintenance agencies (GREF), LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Mughal Road viz. from Behramgalla (Buffliaz) towards Shopian and vice versa via Poonch. However, HMVs (up to 10 tyres) loaded with fresh fruits and vegetables only shall be allowed from Shopian towards Poonch. These vehicles shall be allowed from Behramgalla (Buffliaz) and Herpora (Shopian) at 1000 hrs. after green signal from road maintenance agencies.

Bhaderwah-Chamba road:
Bhaderwah-Chamba road is still closed due to snow accumulation.

People are advised to undertake journey only after confirming status of the road from Traffic control units as under:
