Jammu Srinagar NHW traffic update 07 Feb 2026.

TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 07-02-2026:

From 05-02-2026, 1600 hrs. to 06-02-2026, 1600 hrs., there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to single lane traffic between Marog and Kishtwari Pather, in addition to the breakdown of 02 HMVs.

In view of 20–30 Mtrs single-lane stretch at Kishtwari Pather caused by the sinking of road, Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) shall be allowed to ply on alternate days.

Passengers/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal. Additionally, frost formation on the road between Nachlana and the NAVYUG Tunnel, caused by recent snow accumulation, may lead to slippery conditions and inconvenience to commuters.

Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline; overtaking and wrong lane driving will cause congestion.

Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) operators carrying fresh perishable/live stock are advised to load their vehicle strictly as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time as there is single lane traffic at Kishtwari Pather.

NH-44 (NHW)

Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs Passenger/HPS/Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. However, HMVs shall be allowed from NAVYUG Tunnel (Qazigund side) towards Jammu after assessing the road and traffic situation and no HMV shall be allowed after 1600 hrs. TCU Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing this traffic.

SFs Convoy Movement

Security Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of possible traffic congestion because of narrow carriageway between Ramban and Banihal on Jammu–Srinagar NHW. Tomorrow they may ply from Jammu towards Srinagar after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag road known as NH-244 is still closed for vehicular movement due to snow accumulation.

SSG ROAD

As of now, Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri road is closed due to a snow avalanche at the Zojila axis. Decision regarding vehicular movement on SSG road will be taken tomorrow after receiving clearance (green signal) from the concerned road maintenance agencies.

Mughal Road

Mughal road is still closed for vehicular movement due to snow accumulation.
