Jammu Srinagar national highway, Mughal Road , Srinagar Kargil traffic plan for 20.06.2017

Keeping in view the movement of tourists/emergency vehicles and in order to facilitate the passengers, movement of Light motor vehicles on the NHW shall be aĺlowed both ways on 20.06.2017, for a specified time only.

Therefore, subject to fair weather/ good condition of the road and clearance from Traffic Control Units, on 20.06.2017, movement of traffic (excluding Trailers/multi-axle vehicles) shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu side in a regulated manner. Movement of vehicles shall be allowed from Levdora (Qazigund) from 0700 hours and all these vehicles shall cross Jawahar Tunnel by 1300 hours positively. However, in order to avoid congestion on the NHW, cut off timing for all the Jammu bound vehicles shall be 1000 hours at Pantha Chowk (Srinagar) beyond which no Jammu bound vehicle shall be allowed to cross the said location and instead these vehicles shall be parked at appropriate places in an orderly manner so that no hindrance is caused to the movement of normal traffic.

People are requested to undertake journey on the National Highway after confirming the status from TCUs as the chances of occurring of sudden land slides on the NHW cannot be ruled out.

They shall contact TCU Srinagar (01942450022, 2485396), TCU Ramban (9419993745) and TCU Jammu (01912459048, 9419147732) to get the status of the road before starting their journey. They shall also contact Traffic Police officers viz. IGP Traffic J&K (9419192362); SSP Traffic, Rural Kashmir (9419091281); SSP Traffic NHW (9419248811); Dy.SsP Traffic Udhampur/Reasi (9419013015); Ramban (9419185925); Banihal (9419233978) and Dy.SP Traffic, Kulgam/Qazigund (9796959260) in case of any assistance en-route.

Mughal Road through for traffic. Movement of LMVs shall be allowed both ways and movement of these vehicles (LMVs) from either sides (viz. from Heerpora and Bufliaz sides) shall be allowed from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm only. However, movement of HMVs (empty)shall be allowed one-way only and movement of these vehicles (empty HMVs)shall be allowed from Bufliaz towards Shopian side from 9:00 am upto 4:00 pm in a regulated manner.
All the vehicles shall cross Pir Ki Gali before 5:00 pm positively. Movement of traffic shall be allowed in close coordination with concerned District Police and only after assessing the weather and road condition

Srinagar – Kargil road through for traffic. Movement of traffic from Kargil towars Sonamarg side shall be allowed from Drass after 0300 hours and cut off time for all the vehicles shall be 0800 hours at Minimarg. Similarly, movement of traffic from Srinagar towards Kargil side shall be allowed from Sonamarg at 1100 hours and cut off time for all the vehicles shall be 1500 hours at the said location.
