The J&K govt orders shut down of 30 Pakistani and Saudi channels

The J&K govt orders shut down of more than 30 Pakistani and Saudi channels . These include Pakistani channels GEO, ARY, QTV, and Peace TV.

The government believes anti-national and ‘inimical’ elements were spreading objectionable information through these platforms The directive by the Home Department has branded these channels as banned and states that they pose a threat to peace and tranquillity. The cable operators have been directed to immediately shut the “banned private satellite channels”

The Govt believes these channels have the potential to encourage violence and can disturb law and order situation in Kashmir, Additional district commissioner (ADC), Srinagar has accused cable operators of telecasting banned private satellite channels
