High Alert in Jammu After twin attach within 24 hrs
Following two consecutive militant a acks within 24 hours, a high alert has been sounded across the border districts of Jammu province with strict instructions to the security agencies to maintain tight vigil at the entry points
Sources in police said that security along all highways and border roads has been heightened with additional deployments and by erecting Nakas.
In the wake of Navratras, special security arrangements have also been made in and around temples in Jammu city as well as shrines located in the periphery districts.
“ In the winter capital extra deployment of paramilitary forces has been put in place at important intersections,” sources added.
” Security has been tightened on all the entry points of the city, Quick Reaction Teams and mobile PCR vans have been kept on high alert,” a senior police officer told . “ The number of security forces deployed on various routes has been increased, whereas police stations in the border areas in the region have been asked to enhance vigil.” “ Various important points across the Jammu city, including bus stands, railway station and airport have been put on high alert. Strict directions have been passed to police to check and frisk every suspect in and around the city. Similar directions have been passed in the districts where attacks have taken place,” a source, privy to the decision, disclosed.
Police sources further said that Border Security Force ( BSF) too has increased vigil along the International Border in the region to thwart any infiltration bid from across the border. ” In the wake of two consecutive fidayeen attacks in the Jammu region, security has been tightened on the border,” the sources said.
Talking to Greater Kashmir , SSP Jammu Uttam Chand said that proper security arrangements have been placed as a precautionary measure. “ As a precautionary measure, we have sounded high alert in Jammu. Special deployment of paramilitary has been made while as border police stations are also directed to maintain high level of vigil,” he said.
When asked about arrival of Special Forces from New Delhi, SSP said that at present they don’t need it. “ At present there is no need of it, as we have enough force to deal with the situation,” he said.
SECURITY BEEFED UP IN RAJOURI, POONCH: In the wake of militant attacks in Jammu region, security in the twin border district of Rajouri and Poonch has been tightened.
Talking to media persons, DIG Rajouri- Poonch range, Ashok Kumar Attri said that all the infiltration routes have been sealed and area domination is in progress.
“ Keeping in view the fidayeen attacks in Kathua and Samba districts, all sort of security arrangements have been made in twin frontier districts as chances of infiltration attempts remain on cards throughout the year,” he said and added that although security arrangements were already solid but more measures have been taken to ensure safety.
