The Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board has announced Advertisement Notification No. 08 of 2025 for recruitment to 361 posts across various government departments. This comprehensive notification covers Junior Assistant and Junior Scale Stenographer positions in multiple departments of the Union Territory.

Application Period: Applications will be accepted from October 20, 2025 to November 18, 2025. The notification was published on September 27, 2025, giving candidates sufficient time to prepare their applications.

Total Vacancies: 361 posts are available across 14 different government departments, with the largest number of openings in the Jal Shakti Department (116 posts) and Forest, Ecology & Environment Department (79 posts).

Eligibility Requirements

Domicile Requirement: Only candidates who are domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir are eligible to apply. A valid Domicile Certificate issued by competent authority must be obtained before the application deadline.

Age Limits: The age requirements vary by category as of January 1, 2025:

Open Merit (OM): Maximum 40 years

Reserved categories (SC, ST-1, ST-2, RBA, ALC/IB, EWS, OBC): Maximum 43 years

Physically Challenged Person: Maximum 42 years

Ex-Servicemen: Maximum 48 years

Application Fees: The application fee structure is:

General Category: Rs. 700

SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS, and PwBD categories: Rs. 600

Payment only through online mode (Net Banking, Credit/Debit cards)

Examination Details

The selection process will involve an objective-type, multiple-choice question examination conducted in English language only. There will be negative marking of one-fourth marks for each incorrect answer.

Important Requirements for Examination:

Printout of Admit Card (available one week before exam)

Two recent passport-size color photographs (not older than 6 months)

Original valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport, etc.)

Reservation Policy

The notification follows the Jammu & Kashmir Reservation Act/Rules with horizontal reservation applicable for Ex-Servicemen and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities. Candidates must possess valid category certificates as on the cut-off date.

Ex-Servicemen Benefits: Special provisions include reservation up to Pay Level-6E positions, though candidates cannot avail ESM benefits for subsequent employment after joining any post through horizontal reservation.

Application Process

All applications must be submitted online through the official JKSSB website (www.jkssb.nic.in). The board will not undertake detailed scrutiny at the application stage, so candidature will be accepted provisionally. Final verification will occur during the document verification stage.
