Jammu Srinagar NHW traffic update 07 Jan 2026.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 07-01-2026

From 05-01-2026, 1600 hrs to 06-01-2026, 1600 hrs, there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to single lane traffic at Banihal, Dewal, Nashri-Dalwas and between Marog and Kishtwari Pather, in addition to the breakdown of 02 HMVs on NH-44.

Passengers/LMVs operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW during day time. Please avoid journey during night hours as the movement of HMVs between Nashri Tunnel and NAVYUG Tunnel may cause inconvenience to the commuters.

Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline; overtaking and wrong-lane driving will cause congestion.

NH-44 (NHW)

Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs / Passenger / HPVs / Private Cars / HMVs (Good carriers) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.

SFs Convoy Movement

Subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. They shall move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag road is closed for vehicular movement due to fresh snow accumulation.

SSG ROAD

Subject to fair weather and good road condition (after receiving green signal from BRO), traffic movement shall be allowed on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri road from Kargil towards Srinagar.
These vehicles, LMVs followed by HMVs (up to 06 tyres) with anti-skid chains, shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 1100 hrs to 1500 hrs.
Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chains and warm gear.
TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil shall inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

SFs Convoy moving from Kargil towards Srinagar shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.
