Jammu Srinagar NHW Traffic Update 10 April 2026

TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 10-04-2026

Passengers/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

NH-44 (NHW)

The up tube of the Jammu–Srinagar NHW at Nashri and Chanderkote, and the down tube at Shalgari, are still locked due to landslides and shooting stones. Road clearance work is ongoing.

Subject to fair weather and better road conditions:

LMVs (Passenger), Private Cars, and HMVs (goods carriers) shall be allowed from both sides on NH-44 (Jammu ↔ Srinagar).

Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline.

Overtaking and wrong lane driving will cause congestion.

TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding road condition.

Kishtwar – Sinthan – Anantnag NH-244

This road is temporarily closed for vehicular movement as per orders issued by:

District Magistrate Anantnag

Sub-Division Magistrate Chatroo

SSG ROAD (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri)

Subject to fair weather and road condition (after green signal from road maintenance agencies):

LMVs followed by HMVs (up to six tyres only) allowed from Kargil towards Srinagar.

Due to avalanche risk along Zoji La axis:

• Movement allowed only after green signal.
• No vehicle allowed after cut-off timing (around 10:30 hrs).

Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chains.

TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform about cut-off timing.

SF convoy movement from Kargil towards Srinagar should be planned to avoid disturbance to civil traffic.

Mughal Road

As per orders of District Magistrates of Shopian and Poonch:

Subject to fair weather and road condition (GREF clearance):

• Only LMVs (Passenger/Private cars) allowed from both sides (Jammu ↔ Srinagar via Poonch).

Movement allowed:

• Chandimarh (Buffliaz) → Shopian
• Herpora (Shopian) → Poonch
• Timing: 1100 hrs to 1500 hrs

No vehicle allowed after cut-off timing.

TCU Jammu & Srinagar will notify updates.
