Sikh leader Indumeet Singh demands Punjabi department at KU
Srinagar : Sikh Leader Indumeet Singh on Sunday demanded establishment of Punjabi Department at Kashmir University for the Students particularly for Punjabi students.
In a statement Indumeet said that in Kashmir University there are departments for every subject but Punjabi department is not established.
“This is long pending demand of Punjabi students of Kashmir to establish the Punjabi department at Kashmir University so that Punjabi students can pursue this subject”, Indumeet Singh said.
He further said that , ” After the graduation the Punjabi students have to move outside Kashmir for further studies in Punjabi subject which is very expensive and it is not possible for every student to move outside Kashmir and continue their studies” he added.
Taking notice on the poltical parties in J&K state Indumeet Singh said these parties failed to provide Punjabi department and follow promises were made.
” We requested these parties several times when they where in power but nothing was done,” Singh said adding “I urge Governor of J&K state to address our genuine demand otherwise we are ready to come on roads for our demands ,” .
