Sheep husbandry Jammu Scheme for unemployed youth

Applications in the prescribed format are invited from interested beneficiaries/persons for the establishment of sheep/ goat units and shearing units under the Integrated Sheep Development Scheme. The integrated Sheep Development Scheme has the following components:

a. Establishment of sheep/ goat units on participatory mode (10 ewes/ does)
b. Establishment of sheep/goat units on subsidy mode (20-200 ewes/ does)
c. Establishment of shearing units

• Any individual/ group of individuals/self-help groups/ cooperative society/ farmers producer organization can avail the benefit of the scheme.
• Efforts will be made to cover 20% SC/ ST and 10% women beneficiaries.

Brief guidelines and eligibility criteria of the scheme are given hereunder:

a. Establishment of sheep/ goat units on participatory mode (10 ewes/does)

•  Eligibility: Preference will be given to the BPL/ EWS/ AAY categories.
•  Under the scheme 10 ewes/ does shall be provided to the beneficiary free of cost and the Department shall retrieve 2 ewes/ does from 3rd year onwards for the next five years.
•  Progeny (female) shall be retrieved at 1.5 to 2 years of age with a bodyweight of minimum of 25 -30 Kgs for the establishment of fresh units under the scheme.
•  The beneficiary must have basic infrastructure and grazing avenues to maintain the unit.
•  The beneficiary shall furnish an affidavit duly attested by the First Class Magistrate as per the devised format.

b. Establishment of sheep/goat units on subsidy (20-200 ewes/does)

• Eligibility: Any individual/ group of individuals/ self help groups/ cooperative society/ farmers producer organization.
•  Sheep/ goat units would mean a unit of minimum twenty sheep/goats.

c. Establishment of shearing units

• Eligibility: Any individual trained in Machine Sheep Shearing or intending to undergo training in Machine Sheep Shearing.
•  A Shearing unit would mean a unit comprising of a shearing machine, Genset, and shearing spare required to undertake the activity.
• A beneficiary can purchase shearing equipment from any registered company/ authorized dealer/ distributor/ sole manufacturer within or outside the UT of JK. However, the rates shall be as per the company rate list or less.

The following documents should also be enclosed along with the application:

•  Passport size photo attested by the PRI
•  Domicile certificate copy
•  Ration Card copy
•  Category Certificate Copy (BPL/EWS/AAY/SC/ST) if any
•  Copy of land record holding (In case of sheep/goat units)
•  AADHAR card copy
•  PAN No in case of subsidy/ shearing units.
•  Bank Details in case of subsidy/ shearing units.
