TRAFFIC DIVERSIONS/RESTRICTIONS-DURING NAGAR KIRTAN JAMMU CITY

On the eve of 351th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj, a religious Nagar Kirtan (procession) is being taken out on 02.01.2018 at 1000 hours as per past practice which will start from Gurdwara Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Chand Nagar Jammu via Swami Vivekanand Chowk, Gumat Crossing, Dogra Chowk, Mandir Masjid Tube, Bikram Chowk Kala Render Tube ,(Capt. Mohan Singh Pump Lane), District Police Line, Danik Jagran Chowk, Green Belt Chowk (Lighting), Gandhi Nagar Hospital Road, Gole Market, FCI Depot, Shiva Ji Chowk, Khalsa Chowk, and will culminate at Gurdwara Sri Singh Sabha Nanak Nagar Jammu. The general public is requested to follow the following traffic diversions/restrictions for smooth plying of vehicular traffic, so that no inconvenience is caused to general public:-

DIVERSIONS/RESTRICTIONS-DURING NAGAR KIRTAN 

FOR JAMMU CITY BOUND TRAFFIC:

a. All type of heavy vehicles bound for Katra, Doda, Srinagar will be diverted from Kunjwani till culmination of Nagar Kirtan

b. The Vehicles which are bound for Jammu to Srinagar will take Sidhra By Pass to reach Nagrota for onward journey

C. The Vehicles which are bound for Jammu City can take the following two routes :

I) Narwal , Qasim Nagar, PHQ Chowk, Bikram Chowk and Fly over.

II) Qasim Nagar, Gujjar Nagar, Cicular Road

d. The Vehicles originating in between Kunjwani, Satwari and from R.s. Pura side , the Heavy vehicles will opt Beli Charana Road and LMVs will come upto Asia Crossing and will adopt 4th Tawi Bridge for further journey.

FOR OUT GOING VEHICLES FROM JAMMU CITY

The flyover will remain operational for the whole day with the condition that when the tail of the Procession reaches at Asia Crossing , the general public can follow two routes:

i) The Vehicles bound for NHW will follow Bikram Chowk, Qasim Nagar to Kunjwani

ii) The Vehicles bound for Kunjwani , will take Vigilance Roatry, Flyover to Satwari for onward journey

iii) No vehicles will be allowed to use interior lanes of Gandhi Nagar and Shastri Nagar when head of the procession reaches Asia Crossing

All types of vehicular movement on the route of the procession shall be restricted/diverted depending upon the movement/location of Nagar Kirtan ( procession).

The vehicles coming from Samba, Kathua and Inter-state vehicles shall be diverted from Kanjwani via Narwal by pass towards Nagrota onwards.

Similarly vehicles coming from Katra-Udhampur shall be diverted from TCP Nagrota via Sidhra bye Pass towards Kunjwani and onwards.

The vehicles coming from Poonch, Rajouri, Akhnoor shall bo diverted through 4th Tawi Bridge / Bakshi Nagar Pulli.

The vehicles coming from Indira Chowk bound for JP Chowk/Vivekananda Chowk shall be diverted towards Fly- Over or B.C Road /4th Tawi Bridge (Bagwati Nagar) or as per situation till the procession crosses Dogra Chowk.

The vehicles coming from Residency Road bound for Dogra Chowk will be diverted towards Gujjar Nagar can also adopt Dogra Chowk road.

When the Procession will reach Gandhi Nagar the Vehicles coming from Shastri Nagar bound for Dogra Chowk shall be diverted via Last Morh Gandhi Nagar to touch main road (Satwari-Bikram Chowk Road ) during the movement of Nagar Kirtan ( procession).

There will be no entry of trucks in City Jammu from 08.00 AM to 08.00 PM

Keeping in view the movement and location of procession, the public in general is requested to cooperate with the traffic Police and follow the diversions to avoid the movement on the routes mentioned above and plan their travel accordingly to reach their destinations.
