History

A part of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, the region is the subject of a dispute among China, India and Pakistan. Western districts of the former princely state known as Azad Kashmir and the northern territories known as Gilgit-Baltistan have been under Pakistani control since 1947. Geographical Structure

The Jammu and Kashmir is a UT of India, located in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent in the vicinity of the Karakoram and westernmost Himalayan mountain ranges. It has many valleys such as the Kashmir Valley, Tawi Valley, Chenab Valley, Punch Valley, Sind Valley and Lidder Valley.
