Doctors Without Borders India (DWBI)/ Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) aims to provide medical assistance without any kind of discrimination including offer medical assistance during natural and manmade disasters through establishment of healthcare centers, implementing medical programs for critical illnesses on its own or with partners, working for creating medical awareness and capacity building and carry out/sponsor research to provide strategic input on relevant medical treatment options in India. DWBI is working in Kashmir since 2001.
DWBI offers assistance to people in need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. In 1999 MSF was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize as recognition for its medical work in several continents.

Position : Clinical Psychologist
Location of Job : Sopore
Duration : Till May 2025, Renewable if needed
Start Date : ASAP

• Salary Gross (INR): 54900 /- per month (non-negotiable)

PURPOSE OF POST :
• Providing psychological support to patients according to DWBI principles, standards and procedures in order to improve the patients’ mental health.
FUNCTIONAL AND HIERARCHICAL LINES : Hierarchically Mental Health Supervisor (MHS) & functionally accountable Mental Health Activity Manager (MHAM)
ACCOUNTABILITIES :
• Carrying out evaluation of mental health (MH) needs of patients and establishing a diagnosis and a plan of treatment. Informing the patient and his/her relatives about the possible consequences of the illness and the drug treatment to follow and referring patients to other health professionals whenever necessary, in order to provide the most appropriate treatment and improve the patient’s condition. • Implementing the Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) protocol, identifying possible victims of SGBV and referring them to the medical team so that they receive the necessary treatment.
• Providing psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to patients according to DWBI protocols in order to improve their mental health conditions.
•Assisting and training staff members and resourceful people whenever necessary in order to enhance the scope of MH activities.
• Collecting statistical and monitoring data about mental health activities.
• Informing the supervisor and the medical team about any issues or problems that may arise related to patients’ treatment in order to provide the best possible solution from a medical perspective.
• Ensuring that all patient information is kept confidential
CONTEXT SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES :
Psychotherapy, psychological care and counselling according to DWBI, WHO and MoH protocols/guidelines
• Conduct individual /group therapeutic, counselling family session for program patients and their families.
• Conduct psycho-educational, recreational and psychosocial activities, based on activity plans.
• Develop self-help group to strengthen community support in fostering trauma and support networking.
• Refer clients to specialized care based on need.
• Conducting risk assessment and safe plan for critical cases (risk of suicide and self-harm) with the support from MHAM/ MHS.
• Active participation in clinical supervision, case discussions and project meetings. Recording and reporting
• Ensure regular update of patients files and maintain confidentiality, code of ethics based on guidelines and SOPS.
• Support MHAM/MHS on quality data collection and reporting on MH activities. Other Tasks:
• Support HP team in conducting psychosocial and psycho-education activities based on needs.
• Support MHS and MHAM in setting project SOPs, guidelines and activity plans.
• Support MHAM /MHS on MH training sessions for MoH and DWBI staff
• Participate in other project activities based on needs.
• Participates in operational research related to MH in Kashmir, if required.
• Support Communications and advocacy activities related to MSF Kashmir project with the guidance of MHAM/PMR/ Project Coordinator (PC) and following DWBI MH guidelines and policies for it. Operational research
• Actively participates in operational research related to MH in Kashmir, as required.
REQUIREMENTS :
Education Essential :
M.Phill Clinical Psychology, with license. Register with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) as a clinical psychologist.
Experience : Essential 2 years’ experience minimum as a Psychologist Desirable previous experience with DWBI or similar organizations in similar settings languages Mission language (English) essential. Local language (Kashmir’) essential .
Knowledge : Desirable computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
