Jammu and Srinagar NHW Traffic Update 06 Oct 25.

TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 06-10-2025:
NH-44 (J&K)

Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) has NOT been fully restored at Thardal, Udhampur.

The road was very slow movement observed on NH-44 due to single lane traffic, undulating & uneven surface of the road at Thardal, breakdown of HMVs and movement of 16 nomadic flocks.

Goods carrier (HMVs/Load carriers):
Truckers carrying fresh perishable & essential commodities are advised to load their vehicles as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters through daily traffic plan/advisory. HMVs shall be allowed from Jakheni (Udhampur), as well as Dhar Road between Marg & Kishtwari Pathar, only after the movement of nomadic flocks & road clearance.

Avoid travel on NH-44, in view of heavy movement of nomadic herds, if not necessary.

May plan journey accordingly.

People are advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of NHW from Traffic control units.

Subject to fair weather and good road condition, only one-way traffic for LMVs shall be permitted from Srinagar towards Jammu on NH-44.

Three schedules shall be allowed for LMVs/4-Utility Tunnels (Qazigund side) between 0700 hrs to 1000 hrs as mentioned below:

LMVs (Light Motor Vehicles):
No LMV shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar on NH-44.

HMVs (Heavy Motor Vehicles):
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, HMVs shall be allowed from Jakhani (Udhampur) after assessing road clearance at various places Thardal (Udhampur). TCU Udhampur shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the HMVs.

Security Forces Convoy Movement:
Security Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of possible traffic congestion because of narrow carriageway between Thardal and Ballaini/Marg and Kishtwari Pathar patch on Jammu–Srinagar NHW. They may ply from Jammu towards Srinagar after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.

Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri Road (NH-44):
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from NHDICL, only LMVs shall be allowed from both sides i.e. from Amanatnag towards Kethyar and vice-versa on Kethyar-Sinthan-Anantnag road. Similarly, HMVs shall be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil at 1130 hrs to 1500 hrs.

SSG ROAD:
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, (after getting green signal from BRO) traffic movement shall be allowed from Minamarg towards Sonamarg–Gumri road. LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed from Minamarg towards Sonamarg at 0500 hrs to 1300 hrs. Similarly, LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil at 1130 hrs to 1730 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing.

Mughal Road:
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, (after getting green signal from Road maintenance agencies (GREF)), LMVs/Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides i.e. Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa. These vehicles shall be allowed from Behramgalla (Buffliaz) towards Shopian at 0600 hrs to 1800 hrs and from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch at 0600 hrs to 1800 hrs.

CUT OFF TIMINGS FOR LMVs/PASSENGER/PRIVATE CARS GOING TOWARDS SRINAGAR VIA NH-44:
Jakhani 1330 hrs
Ramban 1530 hrs
Navyug 1600 hrs
Qazigund 1800 hrs

People are advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of the road from Traffic control units as under:
