Jammu Srinagar National Highway Traffic Plan for 11.05.2017

The widening/repair work at Panthyal is going on and efforts are afoot to make the NHW worthy for two-way traffic. However, keeping in view over all condition of the road, allowing the two-way movement of all sort of traffic on the NHW is not feasible.

However, keeping in view the movement of tourists/emergency vehicles and in order to facilitate the passengers, movement of Light motor vehicles on the NHW shall be allowed both sides on 11.05.2017, for a specified time only.

Therefore, subject to fair weather/ good condition of the road and clearance from Traffic Control Units, on 11.05.2017, movement of all sort of traffic (excluding Trailers/multi-axle vehicles) shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar side in a regulated manner. Movement of LMVs/passenger vehicles shall be allowed from Nagrota(Jammu) from 0700 hours upto 1000 hours and from Udhampu upto 1100 hours only. However, the movement of HMVs (excluding Trailers/multi-axle vehicles)shall be allowed from Nagrota (Jammu) from 0730 hours upto 1030 hours and from Udhampur upto 1130 hours only. Strict implementation of cut off timings shall be ensured for smooth regulation of traffic on the NHW.

Similarly, on 11.05.2017 movement of LMVs/Light Passenger vehicles only (excluding medium/heavy passenger vehicles viz. Tempo Traveller/buses etc.) shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu side but in a very strict and regulated manner. Movement of these vehicles shall be allowed from Levdora (Qazigund) from 1000 hours and all these vehicles shall cross Jawahar Tunnel upto 1200 hours only. However, no movement of any Jammu bound LMV shall be allowed from Pantha Chowk after 0800 hours under any circumstances.

Strict implementation of the cut off timings/traffic plan, as above, shall be ensured. Moreover, the commuters are advised to exhibit highest order of driving discipline and avoid overtaking and doubling on the NHW so that there is no jamming/ congestion on the NHW.

No movement of any sort of Medium/Heavy motor vehicle including convoys of Army, BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB etc. shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu side on 11.05.2017 under any circumstances to avoid traffic congestion on the NHW.
