TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR
From 30-07-2026, 1600 hrs to 31-07-2026, 1600 hrs, Jammu-Srinagar NHW remained closed for 09 hours due to restoration work between Jakheni (Udhampur District) and Banihal (Ramban District).
In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the IMD with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of road from TCU Srinagar/Ramban/Jammu. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 01-08-2026
Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)
Restoration work is still in progress on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) between Jakheni (Udhampur District) and Banihal (Ramban District). The decision regarding vehicular movement shall be taken tomorrow after obtaining the green signal from NHAI and assessing the road condition on NH-44.
Commuters are advised to avoid travelling on NH-44 until the highway is declared safe and clear for traffic. Please don’t pay heed to rumours and check the status of road at the Traffic Police Twitter handle, Facebook page and TCUs.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/C/2026-27/578-86 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from road maintenance agencies (NHIDCL), LMVs (Passenger/Private Cars) shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar towards Srinagar and vice versa on Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from PP Parana towards Anantnag between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0900 hrs and 1600 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SSG Road
As per order issued by the DIVCOM Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/100/2026/4392-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari Road, i.e., from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minamarg towards Srinagar only after receiving a green signal from the road maintenance agencies up to 1300 hrs. However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.
Motorists are advised to carry an anti-skid chain to gain more grip on the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SFS convoy moving on the SSG Road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.
Mughal Road (NH-701A)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF), vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to 10 tonnes only) shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e., from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Buffliaz) towards Shopian and from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings.
As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM-PS/26-27/321-31 dated 03-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
