Jammu Srinagar NHW Traffic Update for 15 July 2026

TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

From 13-07-2026, 1800 hrs. to 14-07-2026, 1800 hrs. slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane conditions between Marog and Kishtwari Pather, in addition to the breakdown of 02 vehicles at Nashri and Digdol.

After the cut-off timings, the Inter-district movement of local commuters within the Jammu and Kashmir region shall be facilitated upto 2330 hrs at Nagrota (Jammu) and Qazigund, only after verification of valid photo identity cards which they must carry with them during the Yatra period.

Local commuters travelling in private vehicles towards Srinagar are advised to use the old road via Jawahar Tunnel in order to avoid screening at Lamber (Banihal).

Similarly, Commuters travelling to Batote, Doda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, and adjoining areas are advised to use the old road via Patnitop while travelling from Jammu in order to avoid screening at Nashri.

Passengers/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/ landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal and the ongoing Shri Amar Nath Ji Yatra which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) Operators carrying fresh perishable/live stock are advised to load their vehicle as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters time to time as the HMVs shall be allowed to ply on alternate days only.

Fruit growers/ Load carrier (HMV/LMV) Operators carrying fresh perishable from Valley towards Jammu are advised to load and park their vehicles in a timely manner (every morning before 8.00 am) at designated place between NAVYUG Tunnel and Levdoora on the day of down convoy, so that their movement can be facilitated smoothly.

HMVs Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.

Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary haltage between Ramban and Banihal especially near landslide/shooting stone area.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 15-07-2026: – Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) Subject to fair weather and better road conditions SANJY convoy /LMVs Passengers/Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. However, HMVs (Load carriers) shall be allowed on alternate days. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing this traffic.

CUT OFF TIMINGS FOR LMVs/PASSENGERS/PRIVATE CARS: – To be released from:-

  • Nagrota (Jammu) towards Srinagar: from 0700 hrs . to 1200 hrs.

  • Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar: from 0800 hrs to 1300 hrs &

  • Qazigund towards Jammu: from 1130 hrs to 1730 hrs. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the traffic advisory and cut off timings. No vehicle shall be allowed to move before and after cut off timings.

HMVs/Load Carriers:- Subject to fair weather, better road conditions and an assessment of the prevailing traffic situation on NH-44, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Qazigund towards Jammu. However, NO HMV shall be allowed to move after 1900 hrs. TCU Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban before releasing HMVs. Moreover, in view of ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, to provide hassle free movement of trucks carrying fresh/perishable goods on NH-44, UT administration has decided, all empty tankers of Petrol, Diesel, LPG Bulk Gas, all trucks carrying empty LPG Cylinders; all empty vehicles of FCI shall use only Mughal Road while returning to Jammu. Further, any other vehicle up to 10 tyres carrying perishable commodities shall also use the Mughal Road on the days when the up convoy for HMVs is scheduled on NH-44, as per advisory issued by DIVCOM Kashmir vide No. Divcom/Dev/120/2026/6416-27 dated 27-06-2026.

ARMY/SFs Convoy Movement: – Army and other SFs are advised to plan their movement after SANJY Convoy movements, keeping in view the daily THQ advisory in such a manner so that their convoys are spatially distant (follow yatra convoy tail after maintaining safe distance) without hampering the movement of commuters of NH-44 which will be released from Nagrota (Jammu) at 8 AM & Qazigund at 11:30 AM after passage of Yatra convoys from Jammu & Kashmir ends respectively.

Kishtwar- Sinthan- Anantnag NH-244: – As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/C/2026-27/578-85 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No SDM/KNG/2025-26/487-88 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from Road maintenance agencies (NHIDCL), LMVs Passengers/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides viz Kishtwar towards Srinagar and vice versa on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road. These vehicles shall be allowed to move from PP Parana towards Anantnag between 0800 hrs and 1800 hrs. and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0800 hrs and 1800 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing. TCU Jammu /Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut off timing.

SSG ROAD As per order issued by the DIVCOM Kashmir vide No. Divcom/Dev/100/2026/4392-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road, i.e., from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa. These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minamarg towards Srinagar (only, after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies) up to 1800 hrs. However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs. Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chain to gain more grip on the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing. SFs convoy moving on the SSG road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.

Mughal Road (NH-701A): – Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF), vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to Ten tyres only) shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa. These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Buffliaz) towards Shopian between 0800 hrs and 1700 hrs, and from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings. As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM-P/8/26-27/321-31 dated 03-07-2026 and the District Magistrate, Poonch vide No. DMP/J/376-91 dated 22-04-2026. TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
