Tourism dept announces calendar for mega winter activities to attract Visitors to kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir Tourism on Sunday announced the calendar for mega winter activities and festivities to attract the visitors to Kashmir winter destinations Gulmarg and Pahalgam in 2017.

According to the statement, the secretary Tourism Farooq Ahmad shah while sharing the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti’s keen interest for promoting the JK as round the year destination urged the officials of tourism department, Gulmarg Gondola, JKTDC and development authorities of tourism to gear up for the upcoming winter festivities particularly in Gulmarg and Pahalgam where the winter festivals will be organised from 22th January to 5th Feb 2017.
In Pahalgam, similar festival will be organised depending on the snowfall in the said location, the activities will include cultural presentation, hot air balloon, snow sculpting, snow zorbing, night skiing demos, ice skating and ice hockey, snowboarding, snow cycling and other winter related localised activities.
The secretary said that “our state has untapped potential to showcase for attracting huge chunk of quality tourists from the whole country and outside as well which can help to strengthen the economy but also will bring socio cultural benefits in the form of building relationships.

The Director Tourism Kashmir Mehmood Ahmad Shah, MD cable car Shamim Ahmed and other officers of the tourism sector including JKTDC, Jim SKICC were also present in the meeting.
