National Highway Traffic update Plan for 02.05.2017

National Highway Traffic update Plan for 02.05.2017

The requisite repair/widening work of the NHW at Seri, Gangroo, Hingni and Sherbibi has been completed by the concerned road maintenance agencies whereas widening/repair work at remaining two locations viz. Panthyal and Ramsoo is going on and efforts are afoot to make the NHW worthy for two-way traffic. However, keeping in view the over all condition of the road, plying of two-way traffic on the NHW is not feasible.

As such, subject to fair weather/ good condition of the road and clearance from Traffic Control Units, only one way movement of traffic shall be allowed on the NHW on 02.05.2017. Under the said plan, movement of traffic shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar side in a regulated manner. Movement of LMVs/passenger vehicles shall be allowed from Nagrota (Jammu) from 0700 hours up to 1000 hours and from Udhampur up to 1100 hours only. However, the movement of HMVs (excluding Trailers/multi-axle vehicles) shall be allowed from Nagrota (Jammu) from 0730 hours up to 1030 hours and from Udhampur up to 1130 hours only. Strict implementation of prescribed cut off timings shall be ensured for smooth regulation of traffic on the NHW.

No movement of any sort of traffic shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu side on 02.05.2017 under any circumstances to avoid congestion on the NHW.

Commuters are requested/advised that vehicles are not parked in any landslide/vulnerable zone of the NHW, especially from Ramsoo – Jawahar Tunnel – Levdora under any circumstances. All the vulnerable/slide-prone zones should be kept free from any kind of traffic to avoid any eventuality.

People are requested to undertake journey on the National Highway after confirming status from the TCUs as the chances of occurring of sudden land slides on the NHW cannot be ruled out. They should contact TCU Srinagar (01942450022, 2485396), TCU Ramban (9419993745) and TCU Jammu (01912459048, 9419147732) to get the status of the road before starting their journey. They shall also contact Traffic Police officers viz. IGP Traffic J&K (9419192362); SSP Traffic, Rural Kashmir (9419091281); SSP Traffic NHW (9596304020); Dy.SsP Traffic Udhampur/Reasi (9419013015); Ramban (9419185925); Banihal (9419233978) and Dy.SP Traffic, Kulgam/Qazigund (9796959260) in case of any assistance en-route.
