Former JKPSC chairman Shamsuddin Ganai passes away

Former Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission Khawaja M Shamsuddin Ganai (Rtd IAS officer) passed away on Saturday morning at his Srinagar residence. He was 92.

Originally a resident of Mattan Anantnag, Ganai also served as Deputy Commissioner of different districts besides Principal Secretary, GAD as well as various other postings during his illustrious career in administrative service.

He was also uncle of retired IAS officer Khurshid Ahmad Ganai and father in-law of retired IAS officers Mohammad Iqbal Khanday and Basharat Ahmad Dhar and IPS officer Shafqat Ali Watali.

Hundreds of people participated in his Nimaz-e-Jinaza pm at Jawahar Nagar here.

His demise is being widely condoled and Rayees Mohammad Bhat IPS, the SSP Baramulla, said that his death marked an “end of an era”. In his tweet, he beseeched Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in peace and grant all the bereaved strength to bear the irreparable loss.
