Jammu Srinagar NHW Traffic Update for 30-07-2026.

TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

From 29-07-2026, 1600 hrs to 30-07-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single lane, undulating & uneven surface of the road at Dewal, Udhampur, as well as single-lane traffic between Marog and Kishtwari Pather. In addition to the breakdown of 02 vehicles at Nachlana and Magarkote.

In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the MeT Department, with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of road from Traffic Police Ramban/Jammu. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.

In view of the extensive damage to NH-44 at Dewal Udhampur forcing slow movement of vehicles over rough & bumpy surface of single carriageway, causing congestion in this road stretch, local commuters within the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir shall not be allowed to travel from Jammu to Srinagar through this road stretch till road gets repaired and traffic is regulated.

Local commuters travelling in private vehicles towards Srinagar are advised to use the old road via Jawahar Tunnel in order to avoid crossing Lamber (BanihaI).

Similarly, commuters travelling to Batote, Doda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar and adjoining areas are advised to use the old road via Pathnitop while travelling from Jammu in order to avoid crossing Nashri.

Passenger LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the operational closure of the highway because of maintenance work on the damaged road between Ramban and Banihal and the ongoing NH-44 widening project.

Goods carrier (HMVs/LPVs) operating from J&K to other States are advised to load their vehicles as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time. This shall be allowed to ply on alternate days only.

Fruit growers/load carrier (HMV/LCV) operators carrying fresh perishable items (fruits) towards Jammu are advised to load and park their vehicles in a timely manner (every morning before 8:00 am) at designated places between Navyug Tunnel and Levdora on the day of down movement, so that their movement can be facilitated smoothly.

HMV operators (other than those loaded to clear from overloading and carrying sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW) are advised not to undertake journey on NH-44 due to maintenance work and intermittent traffic stoppages.

Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary travel between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide-prone areas.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 30-07-2026

Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)

Subject to fair weather and road conditions, HMVs carrying passengers shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW. No vehicle carrying passengers shall be allowed on the highway. However, HMVs (load carriers) shall be allowed on NH-44 after assessing the road status by TCU Jammu before releasing the traffic.

Cut Off Timing for LMVs (Passenger/Private Cars)

• Nagrota (Jammu): towards Srinagar from 0600 hrs to 1300 hrs
• Jakheni (Udhampur): towards Srinagar from 0700 hrs to 1300 hrs
• Qazigund: towards Jammu from 1100 hrs to 1700 hrs

TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about traffic advisory and cut-off timings. No vehicle shall be allowed to move after the cut-off timing.

HMVs/Load Carriers

Subject to fair weather, better road conditions and assessment of the prevailing traffic situation on NH-44, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Jammu towards Srinagar after assessing the road condition.

Tourist Vehicles heading towards Srinagar:

• From Navyug Tunnel to Levdora, no vehicle shall be allowed to move from 1800 hrs.
• Tourists are advised to undertake journey during daytime only.

Advisory to Convoy Movement

Army and other BSF movements to plan their movement after Banihal Convoy Movement, keeping in view the daily TCU advisory. Civil traffic movement shall be facilitated after convoy movement is over.

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244

As per orders issued by the SDM Chatroo and SDM Kokernag, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from road maintenance agencies (NHIDCL), LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road.

SSG Road

As per orders issued by the DIVCOM Kashmir, subject to fair weather and road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari Road. HMVs shall move from 1200 hrs to 1700 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timing.

Mughal Road (NH-701A)

Subject to fair weather and road conditions, after obtaining clearance from GREF, vehicular movement shall be allowed from both sides:

• Poonch to Shopian
• Shopian to Poonch

Movement timings: 0700 hrs to 1800 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after the prescribed cut-off timings.
